Coastal Farmhouse: Primary Bath Renovation

After transforming our clients’ Great Room, we were asked to assist with another renovation focusing on their original Primary Bathroom. Our clients’ needs had moved away from the jetted tub they rarely used and the small shower that came with the original construction package. The clients enjoyed the recent coastal farmhouse style Heather brought to the Great Room and wanted to carry that theme into their Primary Bath. They were ready to see what possibilities Heather could design for a renovation within the current footprint

The first step in the design process was to listen to our clients and make sure we understood everything they wanted in their primary en-suite. After learning all the elements, we created a 3D computer model to explore the design possibilities. We created options for the layout and worked with our clients to revise the options and arrive at the final design.

The design includes a large tiled shower with a built-in steam shower, adjustable colored spa lights, and aromatherapy. To create a feeling of spaciousness, the ceiling was vaulted into unused attic space and the window above the former jetted tub was replaced with a transom-style window more appropriate for a shower.

The double vanity area includes built-in medicine cabinets over the sinks and an accent wall of shiplap-style wood planks. The existing toilet room was renovated and a floor-to-ceiling built-in linen closet now takes the place of the former shower stall area.

For a glamorous look, Heather then presented material choices to the owner, ultimately zeroing in on a classic porcelain tile in large format Carrara marble, vanity and linen closet paint in a dark charcoal finish, along with a chandelier, vanity lights, sink faucets, and drawer and door pulls in soft gold finish. Heather DeMoras Design Consultants provided drawings, ordering information, and worked closely with the builder and local plumbing and cabinetry dealerships to oversee construction and coordination to make sure all details were captured for this bathroom renovation.
