Lady of the Lakes Suites
Located on beautiful Keuka Lake in Branchport, NY, the five-suite (each suite with two bedrooms, one bath, a kitchen, and a living area), Lady of the Lakes Suites started life decades ago as a roadside motel catering to vacation travelers. The current owners contacted Heather DeMoras Design Consultants to help with a winter transformation for the upcoming summer season. As with any hospitality project, the colors of the furniture, bedding, and window treatments were becoming dated and needed a refresh. Lamps and lighting also needed to be more efficient and provide an updated look. The owner wanted each suite to maintain its own personality: Garden View, Lake Escape, Vineyard Retreat, Flights Over Keuka, and Keuka Sunrise.

Heather started by making sure the guests were greeted with custom signage at each entry and brightly colored Adirondack chairs to signify their suiteās theme. Local artwork was placed throughout the suites to represent the uniqueness of the Keuka Lake / Finger Lakes Region. The owner initially thought that all upholstered furniture needed new replacements. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the furniture frames were in great shape, so with new updated durable fabrics, and the help of a local upholsterer, the armchairs, sofa beds, and ottomans were transformed. Dining chairs and tables were custom painted and new tops were made to coordinate with new color schemes. To create unification and a crisp, clean look, Heather selected white linen duvet covers with matching pillow shams to be used throughout the five suites. In each suite, updated window treatments, accent pillows, and shower curtains were added. It was noted in the initial walk-through of the original suites that the TV cabinets, living room side tables, bedside tables, and bathroom side tables would benefit by being replaced due to being oversized and no longer meeting the desired aesthetic. HDDC designed updated furniture pieces and contacted a local Finger Lakes woodworker for manufacturing and installation. New stainless steel appliances were installed in the kitchens including over-the-range microwaves. New accessories, bedside sconces, lamps, and lighting were updated throughout each suite.
Throughout the process, Heather oversaw local tradespeople, artists, upholsterers, woodworkers, and appliance and lighting dealers for the owner who could not be onsite during the transformation. Heather worked closely with the local property manager, Finger Lakes Premier Properties, to make sure the property was ready to be rented for the summer season.
